haven't been on the island yet. People who stayed are even leaving. The infrastructure is just GONE...no power, water, sewer, gas... Most buildings got water in them, or were destroyed...or both.
BUT, we did better than Boliver & points east.
We will be trying to get on maybe tomorrow. We have very trusted people ON the island checking things for us & it's better that we stay away for now since there is nothing we can do. ALL we want to know is how much water got into our personal homes, just a measure of the waterline is enough for us to get started without getting in the way of officials.
This is my part of the Lake I live on. If you enlage it and then find the airport, then locate the large white circle watertank, My house in in that area on the lake. I have a deck over the water & a very rectangular pool & its on the left side of the lake where it narrows. It looks like there is a hole in the roof, but that is the atrium. If you wanna try looking at google earth or some other sat company the address is 28 Lakeview Galveston Tx 77551. The icon is an outdoor pic.
It looks good but my pool looks very very green; LAKE green. We are getting more news today about the condition of our actual homes. Our office & shopping center still report as fine.
I have heard from inches of water to 5 feet of water IN the house...IF 5 ft in the house is correct, that means the water came up about 20 feet. THAT'S a lot of water.
